Weather - storms
Today we read books about stormy weather, and did some experiments. Our first one was "Tornado in a Jar" (water plus dish soap):
This "Tornado in a Glass" was made with carbonated water plus salt:
Then we learned about what happens when a hurricane hits a beach and why there is flooding:
Finally, using frozen blue ice cubes and room temperature red dye, we learned about how warm air/water rises above the cooler air/water and how this can cause storms to happen:

Hanging out with horses
I went to a program called “Painted Pony”. First we had to do an introduction, we had to say our names and a little bit about ourselves. My friend Audrey came too. Other then me and her there were three other girls, their names were Maya, Avery, and Faith.
The first activity we did was we went on a long nature walk. We saw tons and tons of Canadian geese. Some looked like they were the bodyguards of the other flock over the hill. They started honking at the flock over the hill to say “Surrender”. Surprisingly the other flock over the hill didn’t move one bit they just stood there staring at us. We slowly and quietly walked around the bottom of the hill. They still just stood there and watched us not moving a muscle. When we were near the geese we heard something above our heads, we looked up it was a huge flock of some kind of bird flying above us. It was so cool. It was like they were putting on a show for us. They swooped and dived all around us. It was an awesome show. Then all of our toes were icicles so we trudged back to the small little house. We had steaming cups of hot chocolate. It warmed us right up.
Then we had some lunch. Yum! Then we made super-duper horse masks. We got to paint them and put stickers on them and other stuff.
Then we split up into two groups. Audrey and I in one group and the other girls in the other group. One of the leaders named Mora made bird feeders with us. We put peanut butter in the grooves of the pinecone then sprinkled some bird seed on it.
Next we switched and the other group came inside and we went to work with some horses. Audrey and I practiced leading the horses around and practiced stopping and starting them and then we practiced how to lead them backwards. It was really fun!
After that, we went outside again to play with the cats. Then we got picked up and went home.
Here is a photo of the horse mask that I made:
